Jeleniewo is a rural commune located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Suwałki County, with its administrative seat in the village of Jeleniewo. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2008, the commune was inhabited by 3,045 people, reflecting the local character of the community. The commune covers an area of 131.37 km², of which 77% is agricultural land and 10.8% is forested. Jeleniewo occupies 10.08% of the area of Suwałki County. The demographic structure of its inhabitants, based on 2014 data, shows a diverse age distribution, which is a significant aspect of local community life. Jeleniewo consists of numerous village administrative units (sołectwa), such as Bachanowo, Białorogi, and Wołownia, while the locality of Jaczno does not have the status of a sołectwo. It is also worth noting that neighboring communes include Przerośl, Rutka-Tartak, Suwałki, Szypliszki, and Wiżajny, which fosters local cooperation and development.
