Jeziorany is an urban-rural municipality located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within the Olsztyn County, with its seat in the town of Jeziorany. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Olsztyn Voivodeship. From a demographic perspective, according to the National Census of 31 March 2011, the municipality had a population of 8,075, including 3,351 in the town and 4,724 in rural areas. In subsequent years, the population declined; by the end of 2017, it stood at 7,839, and by the end of 2019, it reached 7,669. Jeziorany offers its areas for various forms of activity, including a private airfield in Kikity. The municipality covers an area of 213.51 km², with agricultural land dominating (70%) and forests accounting for 18%, indicating a strong emphasis on agriculture and forestry in the region. The administrative structure of the municipality includes numerous village councils, such as Derc, Kiersztanowo, Kikity, and Polkajmy, as well as smaller localities like Kalis, Modliny, and Ustnik.
