Kępice is an urban-rural municipality in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, located in Słupsk County. Its administrative seat is the town of Kępice. The municipality, which belonged to the Słupsk Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998, covers an area of 293.43 km², of which 31% is agricultural land and as much as 61% is forest land, making the region rich in natural diversity. As of December 31, 2010, the municipality was inhabited by 9,419 people, while data from December 31, 2021 indicates a decline in population to 8,888. Nature conservation in the municipality is ensured by, among others, the Torfowisko Potoczek Nature Reserve. The municipality consists of 43 primary localities and 19 integral parts of localities, reflecting its structurally developed network. Kępice is surrounded by other municipalities, including Miastko, Polanów, Sławno, Kobylnica, and Trzebielino, which fosters regional integration. The municipality also has a rich cultural and historical context, related to regional heritage, traditions of local communities, and architecture that may include both traditional rural homesteads and public utility buildings. An interesting fact is that the municipality of Kępice lies in a highly forested area, which not only attracts nature lovers but also plays an important role in the local economy. It is worth noting its role in preserving natural ecosystems and promoting nature tourism.
