Kamionka, formerly the Kozłówka commune, is an urban-rural municipality in the Lubartów County of the Lublin Voivodeship. Its administrative seat is the town of Kamionka, which gained town rights on January 1, 2021, leading to the change of the commune's status from rural to urban-rural. The municipality covers an area of 11,185 hectares and, as of December 31, 2017, was inhabited by 6,455 people, a number that increased to 6,580 by 2021. Agricultural production with small farms dominates in Kamionka, although many residents work in nearby cities such as Lubartów and Lublin. Local businesses focus on trade, construction, and services. The main attraction of the municipality is the Zamoyski Palace in Kozłówka, known for its rich history and architecture, which attracts around 150,000 tourists annually. The palace is surrounded by the Kozłowiecki Landscape Park, an ideal place for recreation in nature. Kamionka is also characterized by diverse village administrations (sołectwa), such as Amelin, Ciemno, Kozłówka, and Zofian, as well as settlements without formal village status, like Grabowy Las and Krzywy Dąb. However, the region faces challenges, including a negative natural population growth rate of -3.9 per mille and a relatively high unemployment level of 493 people. The municipality borders other communes, fostering cooperation and cultural exchange in the region. Kamionka combines rich cultural heritage, picturesque landscapes, and architectural attractions, making it an interesting place to visit and live.
