wikipedia
Karpicko is a village located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, on the shores of Lake Wolsztyńskie, along the Poznań–Zielona Góra route. With a history dating back to at least the 13th century, the village has been a site of settlement, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds, including traces of the Lusatian and Przeworsk cultures. The name Karpicko likely derives from the word "carp," indicating a historical connection to fishing, and from "karpina," associated with the work of craftsmen. Historical documents from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries describe the village as a knightly estate, with the earliest preserved records linked to Cistercian monasteries. In the 16th century, Karpicko passed into the hands of the Iłłowiecki family, and after World War II, it became a recreational destination with dynamically developing residential construction. Interestingly, the village was once a popular bathing site and served as a training base for Polish scouting and military organizations. The lake shores feature holiday resorts and campsites, making Karpicko an attractive location for tourists. The main transportation arteries are National Road 32 and Voivodeship Road 305. In local culture and community, the primary school and sports centers play significant roles. Thanks to its tourist appeal, Karpicko is growing in popularity, offering numerous attractions such as bathing areas, cycling routes, and kayaking trails, making it an interesting destination for both residents and visitors.
