The Kartuzy Commune, located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship within the Kartuzy County, has its administrative seat in the town of Kartuzy. Since the 1970s, the commune has undergone various administrative changes, remaining part of the Gdańsk Voivodeship until 1998. According to demographic data, the commune had a population of 32,631 in 2011, which increased to 34,013 by 2019. The localities within the commune have deep Kashubian roots, reflected, among other things, in the use of the Kashubian language on the Municipal Office's signage. The commune consists of 24 village councils (sołectw) and numerous non-council settlements. Among them are places such as Brodnica Górna, Grzybno, Sianowo, and Ręboszewo. The commune covers an area of 205.28 km², of which 42% is agricultural land and 46% is forested, contributing to a diverse landscape structure. Kartuzy Commune is part of the Kashubian Landscape Park, highlighting its natural values. The area is home to several nature reserves, including Jezioro Lubogoszcz, Jezioro Turzycowe, Kurze Grzędy, and others. Architecturally, the commune stands out with its traditional Kashubian buildings and elements of Prussian-era architecture, echoing the region's rich history. Kashubian culture is manifested in local traditions, language, and through organized festivals and community events aimed at promoting Kashubian values and customs. The area boasts many interesting places that attract tourists, including natural attractions and recreational infrastructure.
