wikipedia
Karwia is a village in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, located on the Baltic Sea, within the municipality of Władysławowo. Known as a seaside resort, it offers a wide beach approximately 3 km long and two designated summer bathing areas. Many buildings from before World War II have been preserved, including structures from the 1890s that exemplify the distinctive architectural style of the Norda region. The history of Karwia dates back to the 13th century when it was established as a small fishing settlement. In 1599, Dutch settlers contributed to the development of the area, and from the 17th century, the settlement was known for its fishing industry, which resulted in tax privileges. Due to frequent floods, including a disaster in 1773, a dam was built to protect the village. In the second half of the 20th century, Karwia began attracting more and more tourists, and in 2012, the summer bathing areas were designated, meeting the European Union's water quality standards. The village has rich fauna, with significant populations of birds such as the Black-throated Loon and the Red-throated Loon. Culturally, the residents actively participate in community life, and in 2003, they expressed their support for Poland's membership in the European Union. Karwia also boasts developed tourist infrastructure, with local attractions including hiking and cycling trails. The village is home to the sports club "Norda Karwia," which organizes football matches. Although there are no historic monuments listed in the official register, the village features interesting sites such as the Łucja Guesthouse, the Church of St. Anthony, and numerous residential houses from the early 20th century. Karwia is a place with a rich history and tradition that has transformed into a popular tourist destination.
