wikipedia
Kasprowa Niżnia Cave, located in the Kasprowa Valley in the Western Tatras, is 3,100 meters long with a denivelation of 47 meters. It is characterized by rich speleothems, including stalactites, stalagmites, small lakes, and siphons. The cave's exploration dates back to the 19th century, with the first mentions in 1849, and significant discoveries were made in the 20th century when nearly 200 meters of new passages were added. The cave is listed as one of the longest underground sites in Poland. Architecturally, the cave has a horizontal layout and is easily accessible, attracting tourists, especially in winter when water levels drop. It also features numerous rock steps that require the use of ropes. Inside, there are many chambers, including the Stalactite Chamber and the Knights' Hall, from which passages branch off toward various siphons. The cave also plays a role in local legends, such as the tale of a golden duck that lays diamond eggs, referencing the Nest of the Golden Duck within its interior. Additionally, the cave is tied to Tatra folklore, contributing to its cultural significance. Interestingly, the longest siphon system in Poland (680 meters) is located in this cave, and explorations by cavers are still ongoing.
