wikipedia
Katowice Załęże passenger stop, located in the northwestern part of Katowice, is a regional stop that was operated by Koleje Śląskie (Silesian Railways) from 2011 onwards, having previously been served by Przewozy Regionalne. During the 2013/2014 period, over 85 connections stopped here, primarily heading toward Częstochowa, Gliwice, Katowice, and Lubliniec, with varying travel times. The stop was built in 1957 and was not regularly used by passenger trains in its initial years. Modernization work began in 2015 as part of the revitalization of railway line No. 137. The new infrastructure included the reconstruction of the platform, an underground passage, and the installation of new elements of small architecture. The platform is 0.76 meters high and 303 meters long, with a surface paved with concrete blocks. Access to the platform is provided by two pedestrian crossings and a reinforced concrete underground passage. The stop is surrounded by convenient transport links, including nearby bus and tram stops. It is part of the international railway line E30 and has important connections to national roads and the A4 highway. Historically, the stop reflects the development of the region's railway infrastructure, associated with the Upper Silesian Railway Company, and has been significant for local passenger traffic. An interesting fact is that the modernization works introduced a new aesthetic to the infrastructure, including steel shelters and modern passenger information elements.
