Kleszczów

The Kleszczów Commune, located in the Łódź Voivodeship, is characterized by its rich history and dynamically developing economy. Since 1973, the Kleszczów Commune has functioned as an administrative unit, covering an area of 124.82 km². The seat of the commune is the town of Kleszczów. Known for its lignite mining and the operations of the Bełchatów Power Plant, the region has become the wealthiest commune in Poland, achieving a per capita income of 44,000 PLN in 2019. Architecturally, the commune does not stand out with monumental structures but has its own charm, maintaining a rural aesthetic dominated by public utility buildings, shops, and private farms. In Kleszczów and the surrounding localities, elements of traditional Polish rural architecture can be observed. From a historical perspective, the commune was part of the Piotrków County and underwent administrative changes over the years, from the partitions of Poland to regaining independence in 1918. It is worth noting the activity of the Bełchatów Lignite Mine, which has influenced the demography and development of the region. The Kleszczów Commune actively develops its infrastructure, offering various services, including grocery stores and industrial plants, and thanks to the Łódź Special Economic Zone, it attracts investments from various countries, including Germany, France, and Italy. The commune is also home to the Łuszczanowice Nature Reserve, which protects a valuable fir forest ecosystem. Local international initiatives indicate strong integration of the commune with its surroundings, and residents actively participate in social life, utilizing village funds for the benefit of their communities. The commune borders seven other communes, fostering cultural exchange and the development of the local economy. The commune authorities are organized democratically, allowing residents to actively influence decisions regarding their environment.
