wikipedia
Kliczków Castle, located in the village of Kliczków in Lower Silesia, boasts a rich history dating back to the late 13th century. It was originally established as part of a network of border fortifications by the Dukes of Świdnica-Jawor. Likely founded by Bolko I the Strict, the castle was intended to defend against Czech invasions. Over time, it lost its defensive significance, and in 1579, the Rechenberg family transformed it into a Renaissance residence. The history of Kliczków has been turbulent; after the Napoleonic Wars, the castle underwent multiple renovations, with the most extensive transformation taking place between 1879 and 1882, giving it its current form. Throughout the 20th century, it served various purposes, including use by German and later Polish soldiers. After World War II, the castle remained in relatively good condition until it was looted by the Red Army. A comprehensive restoration was completed in 2001, converting the castle into a hotel and conference center. In 2012, the "Folwark Książęcy" hotel was opened on the grounds. Kliczków has gained recognition in tourism, earning awards and distinctions such as a place in the "Top 10 Castle Hotels in Poland" and a nomination in the "7 New Wonders of Poland" competition. The castle features heraldic details, including the coats of arms of zu Solms-Baruth and von Frankenberg, which adorn its facades. It has also gained cultural prominence as a filming location for the series "Komisja morderstw" (The Murder Commission). This fascinating site blends history, architecture, and modern tourism, making it a remarkable attraction in the region.
