Kołczygłowy

Kołczygłowy is a rural municipality located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Bytów County. From 1975 to 1998, it was administratively part of the Słupsk Voivodeship. The municipality consists of 16 village districts, including Kołczygłowy, which serves as its administrative seat. The population in 2004 was 4,315, but according to 2017 data, it decreased to 4,259. The area is geographically diverse, with forests covering 53% and agricultural land accounting for 38% of the territory, giving the municipality significant natural value. The central part of the Słupia Valley Landscape Park, rich in natural, historical, and cultural attractions, lies within the municipality. Additionally, the 1913 hydroelectric power plant in Gałąźnia Mała is part of the Trail of the Oldest Hydroelectric Power Plants in Europe. The municipality borders Borzytuchom, Dębnica Kaszubska, Miastko, Trzebielino, and Tuchomie, creating opportunities for tourism development. Cultural aspects related to local history and Kashubian traditions are also significant in the region.
