Kobiele Wielkie is a rural commune in the Łódź Voivodeship, within the Radomsko County. Previously known as the Kobiele Commune until 1954, it is situated in a picturesque area with a total area of 101.85 km², dominated by agricultural and forest land. The seat of the commune is Kobiele Wielkie, and according to data from 2017, the commune has a population of 4,449, which represents a slight increase compared to the 4,420 residents in 2010. The commune encompasses several village districts and localities, including charming villages such as Babczów, Huta Drewniana, and Orzechów. Within the commune, there are two nature reserves: Jasień, which protects natural stands of common yew, and the Kobiele Wielkie Reserve, featuring an upland fir forest, highlighting the richness of the local flora. The commune has rich cultural traditions, and its history dates back to pre-war times when changes in administrative boundaries influenced its development. Despite its small size, Kobiele Wielkie offers residents and tourists a peaceful life surrounded by nature, with opportunities to explore the charms of the Polish countryside.
