The commune of Koniusza, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, within the Proszowice County, is an area rich in history and administrative structure. The seat of the commune is in the village of Koniusza, and it comprises several local administrative units, such as Biórków, Gnatowice, and Niegardów. Between 1976 and 1998, the commune belonged to the Kraków Voivodeship, and before 1954, it included the territories of the former communes of Niegardów and Wierzbno. According to demographic data, at the end of 2017, the commune had a population of 9,006 people, and it is characterized by a unique demographic profile, which includes an age pyramid of its residents. The commune of Koniusza covers an area of 88.5 km², dominated by agricultural land, which accounts for as much as 91% of the total area.
