wikipedia
Kozarze is a village located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the High Mazovian County, on the Nurzec River. The history of the settlement dates back to at least the end of the 11th century, and the village was mentioned in documents of the Mazovian bishopric from the early 13th century. Kozarze was owned by many well-known families, such as the Kiszka, Ciechonowska, Iwanowska, and Sapieha families, and in the 17th century, it passed through various hands, including those associated with the local nobility. During the agricultural reform after World War II, nearby estates were incorporated into Kozarze, which influenced the development of the village. Kozarze is characterized by wooden houses from the early 20th century, as well as a cemetery and mass graves from World War II, where approximately 200 Poles, Jews, and Soviet prisoners of war are buried. Nearby, a fragment of a boat from the 1st century BCE, discovered during excavations, highlights the rich cultural heritage of the region. The village also has its own public benefit organizations, such as the "NATURE" Association for People with Disabilities and a Social Welfare Home. Modern investments in Kozarze include road construction, the modernization of public utility buildings, and support for local initiatives, such as a farmers' club and a sports field. Kozarze is known for its large number of residents engaged in agricultural activities, though many also work in nearby Ciechanowiec. The village authorities have developed a coat of arms and a flag, which symbolize local traditions and connections to the Nurzec River. The coat of arms features a goat and a mill wheel, referencing the agricultural economy and historical milling in the region. Additionally, Kozarze is a place where various cultural events and local initiatives take place, contributing to community integration. Thanks to its rich heritage and dynamic development, Kozarze is a valuable cultural element of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
