Kozienice

Kozienice is an urban-rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship, located in Kozienice County. The administrative seat of the municipality is the town of Kozienice, which between 1975 and 1998 was part of the Radom Voivodeship, and before that, the Kielce Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 245.56 km², of which 46% is agricultural land and 39% is forest land, making it an important area for agriculture and forestry. In 2004, the municipality had a population of 30,507, but by the end of 2019, this number had dropped to 29,421, which may indicate certain demographic changes. The municipality is situated at the confluence of the Vistula and Radomka rivers, bordering the municipalities of Magnuszew, Głowaczów, Pionki, Garbatka-Letnisko, and Sieciechów. Its northeastern border is defined by the Vistula River, giving the region a unique natural character. The area of the municipality is part of the Masovian Lowland, with its northeastern outskirts belonging to the mesoregion of the Middle Vistula Valley. Kozienice plays an important cultural role, hosting various local and community events in churches and other cultural institutions.
