Koźminek is an urban-rural municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, located in the Kalisz County, with its administrative seat in the town of Koźminek. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Kalisz Voivodeship. Its origins date back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to the Kalisz District in the Kalisz Governorate. In 1870, the settlement of Koźminek was incorporated into the municipality after losing its town rights, and on January 1, 2021, Koźminek regained these rights, which changed the status of the municipality. The total area of the municipality is 88.43 km², most of which is agricultural land. The municipality has a diverse demographic structure, with a population of 7,557 residents in 2017. It includes numerous villages such as Bogdanów, Dąbrowa, and Krzyżówki, as well as smaller settlements like Murowaniec and Zosina. It borders the municipalities of Ceków-Kolonia, Goszczanów, Lisków, Opatówek, and Szczytniki, which fosters mutual integration and local cooperation. The Koźminek Municipality is a place of significant cultural and architectural value, with a rich history that shapes the identity of its local communities.
