The Kraśniczyn Commune, located in the Lublin Voivodeship within the Krasnystaw County, was established in 1877 and has its seat in the town of Kraśniczyn. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Chełm Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune had a population of 4,383 inhabitants. It is characterized by a diverse landscape, where 73% of the area is agricultural land, while 20% is covered by forests. The total area of the commune is 110.02 km², which constitutes 9.67% of the area of Krasnystaw County. The commune is also home to the Głęboka Dolina Nature Reserve, which protects unique erosion formations and sycamore-oak forests. The commune includes several village districts (sołectwa), such as Anielpol, Bończa, Brzeziny, and Surhów. Although Pniaki is part of the commune, it does not have the status of a village district. Other communes in the region include Grabowiec, Izbica, and Krasnystaw. The commune offers an interesting tourist trail – the Arian Trail, which may attract tourists interested in local culture and history. In 2014, the demographic structure of the inhabitants was also examined, which may indicate social and demographic changes occurring in the region.
