wikipedia
Krużlowa Wyżna is a village in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, located in the Nowy Sącz County, serving as an example of a locality with a rich history and valuable cultural heritage. Between 1954 and 1957, it was the seat of the local commune authorities, and from 1975 to 1998, it administratively belonged to the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship. The village is known for its architectural monuments, including the parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which houses an altar painting of the Transfiguration of Jesus in the Veraicon style, dating back to the 16th century. This painting, depicting the face of Christ, has its roots in Byzantine iconography and is associated with the spread of the cult of the Transfiguration in this region. Another important artifact is the Gothic sculpture of the Madonna of Krużlowa, which was located in the local church until 2000 and is now housed in the National Museum in Krakow. An interesting aspect is the village's naming history, which has changed over the centuries, making identification challenging. Its history dates back to the 14th century when it was owned by the knightly Pieniążek family. The parish in Krużlowa was also established during this period. The village is renowned for its cultural activities, offering residents a school, a health center, and cultural centers. In 1947, the Volunteer Fire Department was established here and remains active to this day. During the occupation in World War II, the village actively participated in the resistance movement. Krużlowa Wyżna is an example of a village where history, culture, and traditions create a rich regional landscape, important both for its residents and for tourists exploring Lesser Poland.
