Leoncin

Leoncin is a rural commune located in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Nowy Dwór County, with its administrative seat in the village of the same name. Historically, the commune was known as Głusk until 1952. Between 1975 and 1998, Leoncin was part of the Warsaw Voivodeship. In 2004, the commune had 5,082 inhabitants, and by the end of 2019, the population had increased to 5,620. The commune covers an area of 158.84 km², of which 38% is agricultural land and 50% is forested, highlighting its natural landscape values. The commune constitutes 22.97% of the area of Nowy Dwór County. Within the commune, there are numerous villages, including Leoncin, Nowa Dąbrowa, and Wilków nad Wisłą, as well as settlements without village status, such as Głusk and Michałów. Leoncin borders the communes of Brochów, Czerwińsk nad Wisłą, Czosnów, Kampinos, Leszno, and Zakroczym. The area is characterized by a rich natural environment, ideal for recreation, which supports local tourism and ecotourism. From a historical perspective, the region may have witnessed various events related to the development of Masovia, enriching its cultural heritage. Leoncin has the potential to be an architecturally interesting place, certainly featuring local monuments, stylish houses, and traces of historical building traditions.
