wikipedia
Liniewo Commune is a rural administrative unit in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, located in Kościerzyna County, consisting of 15 villages, including Liniewo, Garczyn, Iłownica, and Lubieszyn. The commune covers an area of 110.07 km², predominantly comprising agricultural and forest land. From a historical perspective, the commune was established in 1934, and its borders underwent dynamic changes during World War II when it was renamed Lienfelde. After the war, the original borders were restored, reinstating the Liniewo Commune. The commune was incorporated and dissolved several times, with its current form established in the early 1980s. It is worth noting that Liniewo Commune is home to the Orle Nature Reserve near Lake Duże, highlighting its natural values. In 2004, the commune had a population of 4,613, which increased to 4,618 by the end of 2017. The commune borders the communes of Kościerzyna, Nowa Karczma, Skarszewy, and Stara Kiszewa, ensuring good communication and cooperation with neighboring units. An interesting fact is that after administrative reforms, some of the commune's localities changed their names and affiliations to other communes, influencing its development and history. Liniewo Commune maintains the integrity of its cultural and natural heritage, aiming to support the local community and protect nature.
