The commune of Lipnica Wielka, located at the foot of Babia Góra in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, is characterized by its agricultural and tourist profile. It includes localities such as Bartoszowa Polana, Lipnica Wielka, and Kiczory, and covers an area of 67.47 km². The commune has rich cultural traditions associated with the Orava region, which was once part of Austria-Hungary. As a result of the division of Orava in 1920, Lipnica Wielka was incorporated into Poland, and in the following years, its administrative affiliation changed several times, belonging to various voivodeships and counties. In 1934, the commune was incorporated into the collective commune of Jabłonka, and its independent status was only restored in 1991. Demographically, in 2016, the commune was inhabited by 6,033 people. It is also worth noting that the commune borders Slovakia, which influences its rich cultural and historical traditions. An interesting fact is that until 1991, Kiczory was part of Lipnica Wielka, highlighting certain administrative and social changes that have taken place in the region.
