wikipedia
Barcice Dolne is a village in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Nowy Sącz County, which was officially established as a separate entity from Barcice on January 1, 1910. The history of the settlement dates back to the late 18th century, when this area was part of the Barcice manor estate, and German colonists began settling here from 1787. The settlers, predominantly Roman Catholic, quickly assimilated with the local population. By the 19th century, the village already had 14 houses, and the land was divided into new farmsteads. Historical events, such as changes in land transaction laws and the construction of a railway line, significantly influenced the development of the village, leading to expropriations. During World War II, the village was renamed Barcice Niemieckie (German Barcice), but after the war, its original name was restored. Barcice Dolne features historic stone cellars and a chapel dating back to the 18th century, reflecting the region's architectural heritage. An interesting fact is the presence of a World War II-era air-raid shelter. Barcice Dolne is also the smallest administrative unit (sołectwo) in the Stary Sącz municipality, with a growing number of residents and new houses. Nearby lies Barcice, from which Barcice Dolne was separated. Notable figures associated with the village include Marian Cycoń, a member of the Polish Parliament and former mayor of Stary Sącz.
