Lubań Commune, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship within Lubań County, is characterized by its rich history, interesting monuments, and diverse demographic and economic structure. According to data from June 30, 2020, the commune had a population of 6,592. Its area comprises 13 localities grouped into 12 village councils, with the seat of the commune being the town of Lubań, which is a separate administrative unit. Among the architectural treasures of the commune are the Church of St. Nicholas in Henryków Lubański, the palace and park in Jałowiec, and the manor house in Pisarzowice. The commune also features remnants of medieval strongholds from the 13th and 14th centuries, testifying to its rich past. In terms of culture, the commune promotes local traditions through two folk ensembles and the activities of public libraries and schools, including four primary schools and one middle school. The economy of the commune is primarily based on individual agriculture, which benefits from high-quality soils, as well as the extraction of minerals such as basalt aggregates, anhydrite, and ceramic clay. The natural environment of the commune is equally fascinating, with the over 1,000-year-old Henryków Yew and a site of round-leaved sundew in a kaolin clay pit in Nawojów Łużycki. Transportation within the commune is facilitated by a network of roads, including the planned A4 highway, and railway lines such as Węgliniec–Lubań–Jelenia Góra and Zgorzelec–Lubań–Jelenia Góra. The commune borders several others, including Gryfów Śląski, Nowogrodziec, and Zgorzelec. The commune covers an area of 142.15 km², of which 70% is agricultural land and 22% is forested. Thus, Lubań Commune is an interesting place that combines historical, cultural, and natural aspects, making it attractive both to residents and tourists.
