The Małdyty Commune, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Ostróda County, boasts a rich history and a well-developed tourist infrastructure. The seat of the commune is the town of Małdyty, which had a population of 6,251 in 2019. The commune features a diverse land structure, with agricultural land accounting for 60% and forested areas making up 24%. Historically, Małdyty was an important transportation hub, which contributed significantly to its development. The construction of the Elbląg Canal in 1860 greatly improved transport in the region. Among its architectural landmarks is a palace dating back to the late 17th century, which was destroyed during World War II but retains surviving elements, such as the "Pod Kłobukiem" inn building. Another notable site is the 18th-century Domhard family palace, which now houses the Agricultural School Complex. The commune offers a variety of tourist facilities, including an inn, a stud farm in Plękity, recreational centers, as well as a beach and a pier in Wilamowo. The area is home to numerous lakes and forest complexes, along with three nature reserves that protect unique flora species. It is worth noting that the Małdyty Commune has undergone various administrative changes, and its history is closely tied to the region's past.
