Mały Płock is a rural municipality in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, located in the Kolno County, with its administrative seat in the village of the same name. The municipality covers an area of 140.06 km², and according to 2004 data, it was inhabited by 5,048 people. The land use structure shows a dominance of agricultural land, which occupies 75% of the area, while forests cover 19%. The municipality plays a significant role in the county, accounting for 14.9% of its total area. The history of Mały Płock is rich and marked by dramatic events, particularly during World War II. Following the Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939, the municipality fell under Soviet occupation and was soon incorporated into the Byelorussian SSR. After the German attack in June 1941, Mały Płock came under the occupation of the Third Reich. These events had a profound impact on the demographics of the municipality, where in 1921, 6,044 people lived, including a significant number of followers of various religions, such as Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Judaism.
