Majków is a right-bank district of Kalisz, situated on a hill overlooking the Prosna River, inhabited by approximately 5,000 residents. It is characterized by its villa-style architecture and panoramic views of the city center. The district features important landmarks such as the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland, the Military Cemetery, Majków Park, and the Manor Complex, which was originally built by the Lipski family in the late 18th century and later renovated by the Gutowski family. During the Polish People's Republic, the manor fell into disrepair, but in 1999 it underwent a comprehensive renovation to serve as the headquarters of the Monument Protection Services.
Majków boasts a rich history dating back to 1283, when Przemysł II placed the village under the jurisdiction of the Kalisz court. Over the centuries, estates were established here, frequently changing owners, though the village area always remained located north of Kalisz. The landscape park, created in the early 19th century, is home to a variety of tree and shrub species. The district also hosts educational institutions such as Primary School No. 2 and Middle School No. 1, as well as a sports complex that has gained a new, illuminated Orlik pitch.
Majków is well-connected to other parts of Kalisz through a bus network operated by Kaliskie Linie Autobusowe. As a result of the 2013 administrative boundaries, the district now forms the largest villa-style neighborhood in the city, closely cooperating with the neighboring area of Chmielnik. Majków attracts both residents and tourists with its architecture and history, creating a unique atmosphere and a desirable living environment.
