wikipedia
The manorial granary in Siemianowice Śląskie, located at 6 F. Chopin Street, is a historic building from 1782 that forms an integral part of the palace and park complex. Originally constructed as a granary, the building has undergone numerous transformations and has served as the seat of the Municipal Museum since 1991. The history of the granary dates back to the 17th century, when the area of Siemianowice was in the hands of the Mieroszewski family and later passed to the Donnersmarck family. The former manor farm included, in addition to the granary, stables and other farm buildings. After World War II, the granary was used by the State Agricultural Farm (PGR), and in 1974 it became the seat of the Municipal Chamber of the Tradition of the Workers' Movement. The building was adapted for museum purposes, and its external structure features a rectangular layout, a gable roof, and organoleptically varied elevations. The exterior of the building is made of stone with five-axis facades, while the interior retains wooden ceilings and stone stairs with wooden treads. In 2016, the granary was entered into the register of monuments of the Silesian Voivodeship. Today, the Municipal Museum not only preserves local traditions but also organizes numerous exhibitions and cultural events, attracting both residents and tourists. An interesting fact is that on the fourth floor, there is a small crane (żurawik), symbolizing the building's former storage function, and its historical location amidst a new housing estate highlights the changing urban context of Siemianowice. The granary continuously fulfills an important cultural and educational role in the city, bridging the past with the present, which makes it a central point of local identity.
