wikipedia
The Manor in Karniowice, located in the Zabierzów municipality of Kraków County, is a historic property with a rich history and architecture. Dating back to the mid-18th century, it was built in the late Baroque style. The manor features a raised basement, masonry construction, a single-story layout on a square plan, and a distinctive mansard roof covered with wood shingles. In 1860, a significant renovation was carried out under the direction of Stanisław Mieroszewski. As a result, dormer windows were added, along with a porch featuring a Neo-Rococo gable, the Ślepowron coat of arms, and the Latin inscription “Love of the homeland is our duty.” Additional attractions include octagonal corner turrets that adorn the building, and next to the manor stands a 17th-century chapel. The manor and its surroundings, including the park, are protected as a manor complex listed in the register of immovable monuments of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. In historical context, at the beginning of the 17th century, Karniowice belonged to Jerzy Pipan and later to Bishop Stanisław Wojeński. Over the centuries, the ownership changed hands among families such as the Morsztyns, Ossolińskis, Meciszewskis, Bartynowskis, and Lewickis. In 1856, the estate was purchased by Jan Stanisław Mieroszewski, who oversaw the renovation in 1860. In later years, the manor was owned by Sobiesław Mieroszewski and the Skrzyński family, and from the late 1920s, it was managed by Marian Skrzyński. In 1988, the property underwent renovation by the Kraków Center for Agricultural Progress, and in 1997, it was sold to a private owner. Surrounding the manor is a well-maintained landscape park, designed at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, which retains traces of a terraced layout, further enhancing the aesthetic value of the site. The Manor in Karniowice not only illustrates changing architectural styles but also reflects the rich history of the region and the significance of local families in shaping the culture and traditions of the Kraków area.
