The Manowo Commune is a rural municipality located in western Poland, within the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Koszalin County. Its administrative seat is the village of Manowo. Among the 114 municipalities in the voivodeship, it ranks 59th in terms of area and 60th in terms of population. The Radew River flows through the commune, forming Lake Rosnowskie, which makes it an attractive destination for tourists, especially kayaking enthusiasts. The area boasts three nature reserves: Lake Lubiatowskie, Kręgi Kamienne nad Radewą (Stone Circles by the Radew), and Mechowisko Manowo (Manowo Peat Bog), as well as numerous tourist trails, including the red-marked J. Chrząszczyński Trail and several cycling routes. The commune is rich in natural beauty, with forests covering as much as 66% of its area. Manowo also holds transportation significance due to the presence of National Road 11 and a network of regional roads. A unique feature of the commune is its historical railway connection, which began in 1898 with the construction of a narrow-gauge line. Despite multiple closures, narrow-gauge train services to Koszalin were resumed in 2008. Administratively, in 2016, the commune recorded budget expenditures of 25.6 million PLN and revenues of 25.8 million PLN. Manowo consists of several village districts (sołectwa), such as Bonin, Cewlino, and Grzybnica, each with its own unique history and character. The commune is abundant in floral and faunal diversity, attracting tourists and nature lovers alike. Local traditions and cultural events, frequently held within the commune, also contribute to its unique atmosphere and foster social integration. Thanks to its location and natural resources, Manowo is an interesting point on the tourist map of western Poland.
