wikipedia
Marianowo is a rural commune located in northwestern Poland, in the western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Stargard County. The administrative seat of the commune is the village of Marianowo. Covering 6.7% of the county's area, the commune is home to a small population, which significantly shapes its local character. It lies on the Nowogard Plain and the Ińskie Lakeland, surrounded by neighboring communes such as Chociwel, Dobrzany, and Stargard (rural commune). The area boasts rich natural values, situated within the basin of the Krąpiel River and its tributary, the Krępa, making it conducive to water-based tourism. Forests account for 25% of the land, while agricultural land makes up 64%, reflecting the local economy's focus on farming. Thanks to National Road 20, the commune enjoys good transport links to nearby towns. Although limited, the presence of railways highlights the historical role of transportation in the region. The railway line connecting Stargard with Koszalin, opened in 1859, was a key piece of infrastructure, while the narrow-gauge connections to Ińsko add local charm. Active railway stations within the commune facilitate access to public transport. As a historical locality, Marianowo holds interesting facts. The commune was part of the Szczecin Voivodeship until 1998, underscoring its long administrative history. Villages such as Czarnkowo, Dalewo, and Sulino emphasize settlement diversity, with architecture often preserving the local style typical of the region. The Marianowo commune is engaged in cultural development, emphasizing the joint organization of events that bring residents together. This is an important aspect, especially considering the low population density, which can influence community life. Despite its small scale, the commune strives to develop its resources and improve the quality of life for its inhabitants. An interesting fact about the commune is that in 2006, railway traffic was restored on the previously closed Stargard–Kalisz Pomorski route, marking a significant event in the local transport history. Changing conditions and community needs have led to infrastructure adaptations, reminding us of the region's dynamic past. Thus, Marianowo is a place that blends history, culture, and nature, offering unique experiences for both residents and visitors.
