Ryn is an urban-rural municipality located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within Giżycko County. The seat of the municipality is the town of Ryn, known primarily for its rich history and picturesque landscapes. The municipality was established following administrative changes and had its seat in the Suwałki Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998. The area of the municipality is 204.54 km², and its land use structure is diverse, dominated by agricultural land (58%) and forests (21%). Demographic data indicate a declining population; in 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 6,068 people, and by the end of 2019, this number had dropped to 5,668. The municipality includes numerous sołectwas (village administrative divisions), such as Jeziorko, Knis, Kronowo, and Słabowo, as well as other localities that reflect the diversity of its territory. Ryn and its surroundings are also areas of significant tourist importance, particularly due to their beautiful lakes and forests.
