Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego Street in Szczecin, previously known as Friedrich-Karl-Straße, is a significant element of the city center's landscape, connecting Jana Matejki Street with Szare Szeregi Square over a length of 926 meters. The architecture of the street consists of both pre-war tenement houses and post-war buildings, including modernist structures such as building number 40, which currently houses the Marshal's Office. The tenements along the street are listed in the municipal heritage register and the national heritage registry, highlighting their historical significance. The street has a rich history dating back to before World War II, when eclectic tenement houses began to be built there at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. During the interwar period, the Polish consulate operated here, and after the war, the street's name was changed and its use restored. The most significant destruction occurred during the bombings of World War II, which influenced the reconstruction and architectural development of the street in the following decades. After 1989, another modernization took place, including the construction of the Pazim skyscraper. Piłsudskiego Street is an important transport hub, served by numerous tram and bus lines, facilitating urban mobility. On the section from Rodła Square to Mazurska Street, post-war buildings dominate, while in the western part, a few pre-war tenement houses have been preserved. An interesting fact is building number 27, which is a retroversion of a tenement house destroyed during the war, built between 2007 and 2010. Piłsudskiego Street, with its architectural diversity, historical past, and role in the cultural life of Szczecin, is an essential element of the city's identity.
