Miękinia

The Miękinia Municipality is located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in the Środa Śląska County, bordering Wrocław and the Oder River. Its location near major transportation routes makes it an attractive place both for living and economic activity. The seat of the municipality is Miękinia, which was formed by the merger of three former municipalities: Przedmoście, Lutynia, and Mrozów. In 2020, the municipality had a population of 17,333 and covers an area of 179.48 km², with agricultural land (69%) and forests (17%) dominating the landscape. Miękinia Municipality boasts rich natural assets, including the Zabór Nature Reserve, which protects a valuable riparian forest. The transport infrastructure is well-developed; the municipality has urban rail connections as well as national and regional roads, which enhance residents' mobility. A significant event was the opening of a road bridge connecting both banks of the Oder River in 2013, facilitating communication with surrounding areas. In terms of utilities, the municipality has an extensive water supply network spanning 107 km and a wastewater treatment plant. All localities are electrified, but the gas network is limited to some villages. The municipality cooperates with all telecommunications operators, ensuring residents have access to modern services. From a historical perspective, Miękinia Municipality was part of the Wrocław Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998, which influences its administrative and social conditions. It is also interesting to note that ferry communication across the Oder once connected the municipality with areas on the other side of the river, which was important until the bridge was built. Miękinia Municipality is not only a place with well-developed infrastructure but also an area rich in natural resources and interesting history, making it an attractive location for residents and investors alike.
