wikipedia
Mikowice, a village in southwestern Poland, has retained its original urban layout, resembling a chain-style settlement. The dominant architecture, mainly from the 19th century, includes masonry and masonry-wooden residential houses and farm buildings, often featuring simplified Baroque-Classicist architectural elements. In the vicinity, there is also an old manor farm and religious structures such as a chapel and crosses. Mikowice is located in the Kłodzko Valley, in a shallow valley of the Roszycki Spław stream, surrounded by extensive agricultural land. For years, the village has struggled with population decline, which peaked at 161 residents in 1960. After World War II, Mikowice became part of Poland and was incorporated into the Kłodzko municipality, undergoing several administrative changes. The village's economy is entirely agricultural, with most residents earning their living from farming. In 1978, there were 11 farms here. Interestingly, between 1894 and 1895, drilling operations confirmed the earlier presence of ground moraine clays, highlighting historical changes in the bed of the Nysa Kłodzka River. Mikowice has a rich history dating back to the 14th century and is associated with the Kłodzko parish. Over the years, the village changed owners multiple times, and its residents were mentioned in Kłodzko’s municipal documents. After World War II, Mikowice underwent profound social changes when its original inhabitants were resettled and replaced by new settlers. The village's infrastructure is modest, with local roads and basic services, and children attend schools in nearby Bierkowice and Kłodzko. Most residents are Catholic, and their religious life is organized by the parish in Kłodzko. Despite its agricultural character, Mikowice holds significant cultural and historical value, which sustains its local identity.
