The Milicz Municipality, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship within the Milicz County, is an urban-rural commune with a rich history and diverse cultural heritage. From 1975 to 1998, it belonged to the Wrocław Voivodeship, and its administrative seat is the town of Milicz. The municipality covers an area of 435.61 km², dominated by agricultural land (41%) and forests (43%), making it one of the largest communes in the county, accounting for 60.92% of its total area. According to data as of June 30, 2020, Milicz was inhabited by 24,174 residents, indicating a slight decrease compared to the population in 2004. The municipality is also known for its protected areas, including the Wzgórze Joanny Nature Reserve, which safeguards unique beech forest stands, and the Stawy Milickie Nature Reserve, an extremely valuable wetland ecosystem spanning over 5,300 hectares. Milicz is also home to the Polish Konik horse, adding to the region's tourist appeal.
