Miłki, formerly known as the Paprotki Commune, is a rural municipality located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Giżycko County. The administrative seat of the municipality is the village of Miłki. The administrative history of the municipality has changed over the years; between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship. From a demographic perspective, as of June 30, 2004, the municipality was home to 3,839 people, while according to data from December 31, 2019, the population was 3,722. The total area of the municipality is 169.43 km², of which 65% is agricultural land and 14% is forested. Miłki Commune occupies 15.14% of the area of Giżycko County. In terms of demography, the population between 2006 and 2014 showed slight fluctuations: 4,071 in 2006, 4,018 in 2010, and 3,953 in 2014. The municipality borders the communes of Giżycko, Mikołajki, Orzysz, Ryn, and Wydminy. It is worth noting that the local demographic and land structure, as well as its location in a region rich in lakes and forests, make Miłki an attractive place both for living and tourism. The area is also characterized by significant natural values and folk culture, making it an interesting destination for visitors.
