MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza was a Polish women's volleyball club, founded in 1992, which underwent a long and varied history. The club was established on the initiative of Lesław Klimczyk in Dąbrowa Górnicza, and its beginnings were associated with the Municipal Inter-School Sports Club. After promotion to the First League in 2004, the team grew stronger with each passing year, culminating in promotion to the Women's Volleyball League in 2007. Notable milestones in the club's history include its debut in European cups in 2009 and winning its first medal in the Polish Women's Indoor Volleyball Championship in 2010. Dąbrowa Górnicza strengthened its squad by hiring talented volleyball players and coaches, but over time, it faced financial difficulties, which led to relegation to the First League in 2018 and the eventual dissolution of the club in 2019 due to lack of funds. MKS achieved several significant successes, including winning the Polish Cup twice in 2012 and 2013, and finishing as runners-up in the Polish Championship in 2013. The club also produced many well-known players, such as Katarzyna Urban and Krystyna Strasz. Dąbrowa Górnicza was not only a volleyball hub but also a place where youth volleyball groups developed, and the club focused on nurturing its players. Although MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza no longer exists today, its achievements and impact on Polish women's sports remain significant.
