The Monumental Complex of Polish Artillerymen in Toruń is an important monument commemorating the history of Toruń's artillery. It consists of a monument on granite blocks, a plaque with the inscription "Eternal Honor and Glory to the Polish Artillerymen," and an eternal flame. The construction of the monument was initiated in 1937, but these plans did not come to fruition. A new initiative began in 1946 with a proposal from the commandant of the Artillery Training Center, General Artur Hulej, which led to the laying of the cornerstone in 1946 on Artillery Day. This ceremony gathered many important military and civilian officials. The design of the monument, which was intended to feature figures of artillerymen, was entrusted to a student; however, due to financial difficulties, the idea was put on hold. In 1977, an initiative group, in agreement with the military and local authorities, began a new concept for the monument's construction. The final design, created by Franciszek Duszeńko, symbolizes the historical development of Polish artillery, including bas-reliefs celebrating the World War II era. The monument was funded through public, military, and institutional contributions. The unveiling took place on October 12, 1980, in the presence of numerous military and civilian delegations, highlighting its cultural and historical significance. In 1993, a plaque commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Officers' School of Artillery in Toruń was added. In 2014, due to the construction of a new courthouse on the original site, a decision was made to relocate the monument to the Square of the Toruń Lovers' Society. The monument was moved in 2015, demonstrating the continuity of remembrance of Polish artillery and its importance in the history of Toruń.
