wikipedia
Mrzeżyno Seaport, located on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the Rega River, is a place with a rich history and significant economic importance. It functions as a marina for 40 yachts and serves as a base for sea fishing. The port is also a designated maritime border crossing, with border controls conducted by the Świnoujście Border Guard Unit. Established in 1457, the port has undergone numerous changes and modernizations, including a major reconstruction in the 1960s. Historically, its significance is largely attributed to merchants from Trzebiatów, who traded goods such as timber, grain, and other commodities. Modern port infrastructure includes an approach channel, breakwaters, and a navigation system. However, temporary changes in the seabed often result in navigational difficulties. Due to dynamic weather conditions, risks increase during strong winds, making access to the port challenging. In recent years, local authorities have invested significant funds in modernizing the port, contributing to the growth of the local maritime economy. The port has also been a witness to competition with Kołobrzeg and shifts in trade relations, with its architecture reflecting various stages of maritime development. An interesting fact is that, for the safety of fishing crews, wearing life jackets is mandatory when entering and exiting the port. Although Mrzeżyno Seaport has strong fishing and trading traditions, its infrastructure still requires further investment and adaptation to modern maritime conditions.
