Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw

The Museum of Sport and Tourism in Warsaw, located in the Żoliborz district at 4 Wybrzeże Gdyńskie Street, is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in Europe, established in 1952. Initially, it was housed near the stadium of the Warsaw-based club Skra, but it now operates within the Olympic Centre. The museum plays a significant role in promoting sports culture in Poland, with a collection of over 46,000 exhibits related to the history of Polish sports. The collection includes trophies, medals, cups, diplomas, various pennants and banners, as well as sportswear and equipment that showcase the achievements of Polish athletes. An additional asset of the museum is its extensive collection of publications, photographs, magazines, postcards, and audio and video materials, making it a valuable source of knowledge about the history of sports in Poland. An interesting fact is that approximately 85% of the exhibits come from donations, reflecting the community's involvement in documenting and preserving sports heritage. The museum serves not only an exhibition function but also an educational one, organizing various events and thematic exhibitions, which helps popularize the history of Polish sports.
