Mykanów is a rural commune located in the Silesian Voivodeship, within the Częstochowa County, with its administrative seat in the village of Mykanów. The commune consists of numerous village administrative units (sołectwa), such as Adamów, Borowno, Cykarzew Północny, and Wola Hankowska, as well as additional localities like Antoniów, Grabówka, and Radostków-Kolonia. In 2004, the commune had a population of 13,759, and according to 2002 data, its area is 140.64 km², of which 82% is agricultural land and 11% is forested. Mykanów borders communes such as Częstochowa, Kłobuck, and Kruszyna. The commune operates on democratic principles, headed by Mayor (Wójt) Dariusz Pomada and a commune council composed of 15 councilors. In terms of transportation, Mykanów is well-connected thanks to road and rail routes that provide access to larger urban centers. The mayor and the chairman of the commune council have held their positions since 2014.
