Nowa Karczma is a rural municipality located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Kościerzyna County, with its administrative seat in the village of the same name. The municipality consists of 17 village districts, including Będomin, Grabowo Kościerskie, Grabówko, and Nowy Barkoczyn. According to data, in 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 6,163 people, and by the end of 2017, this number had increased to 6,913. The municipality covers an area of 113.33 km², of which 69% is agricultural land and 18% is forested. Architecturally, the Nowa Karczma Municipality is known for its traditional Pomeranian buildings, and within its area, one can find sites related to local history and rural farmsteads. The history of the municipality dates back to 1934 when it was established as a collective municipality. During World War II, it was renamed Neukrug, and after the war, the pre-war administrative boundaries were restored. The municipality has functioned in various forms over the years; in 1976, it was merged with the Liniewo Municipality to form Nowa Karczma-Liniewo, only to return to its former boundaries in 1982. The municipality also includes smaller non-administrative villages such as Guzy and Skrzydłówko. It borders other municipalities, including Kościerzyna and Liniewo, which fosters cultural exchange and social development in the region.
