wikipedia
Nowy Jasiniec is a village in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Bydgoszcz County, characterized by a hilly post-glacial landscape and the presence of Lake Nowojasinieckie and Lake Zamkowe. The history of the locality dates back to 1264, when it served as a border castellany stronghold. In the 14th century, after being taken over by the Teutonic Knights, a castle was built, which followed the history of Poland, participating in wars with the Teutonic Order, including the battle in 1433, where it was destroyed. The castle ruins, situated on a hill overlooking Lake Zamkowe, are now listed in the register of historical monuments, and their structure bears traces of various eras, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Described in the 19th century, the castle had solid walls 7–8 feet thick and was surrounded by moats, indicating its defensive importance. During World War II, the village was occupied by German troops, and after battles in 1945, it was liberated by the 8th Bydgoszcz Infantry Regiment. Nowy Jasiniec is also a place that attracted artists, such as Leon Wyczółkowski, who in 1935 painted the local oak trees, leaving a mark on the cultural history of the region. The village also features tourist trails, making it attractive for enthusiasts of active recreation. The castle ruins, a wooden blacksmith shop from the late 19th century, and beautiful views of the lakes constitute important elements of Nowy Jasiniec's cultural heritage, and its history and architecture attract tourists and researchers interested in medieval fortresses. The locality not only fits into the history of Poland but also into regional traditions, associated with the Evangelical church and local milling craftsmanship, making its significance extend beyond merely touristic frameworks.
