Nitro-Chem SA Chemical Works, based in Bydgoszcz, is a company operating in the chemical and defense industries, tracing its roots back to the history of the former DAG Fabrik Bromberg plant, built by the Third Reich to supply the Wehrmacht. After World War II, the facility was taken over by the Central Armaments Industry Board and transformed into the State Gunpowder Factory, later becoming Zachem Chemical Works. In 1992, the plant was split into two independent enterprises, including Nitro-Chem, which focused on the production of explosives and ammunition. Since the 1990s, the company has undergone numerous modernizations, introduced new technologies, and launched export operations, gaining a foothold in the international market, especially after Poland's accession to NATO. Nitro-Chem offers a wide range of products, including TNT, RDX, ammunition, and plastic films. The company has become a leading producer of TNT in NATO and an important supplier to the armed forces of many countries. Completed environmental and modernization investments have contributed to its development and strengthened its market position. Nitro-Chem is also involved in sports sponsorship and supports local initiatives.
