The Northern Star is a commemorative stone located in Jastrzębia Góra, within the municipality of Władysławowo. It was established on the initiative of the Jastrzębia Góra Lovers' Society and symbolizes the northernmost point of Poland. The monument was unveiled in 2000 following geodetic surveys, which determined its location to be 2 meters further north than Cape Rozewie, making it a unique geographical point in the country. In 2003, more precise measurements commissioned by the Maritime Office in Gdynia further refined its coordinates.
In addition to its geographical significance, the Northern Star also holds considerable architectural value, serving as an attractive tourist landmark and a point of reference for visitors exploring Jastrzębia Góra and its surrounding beaches. Culturally, the monument has become a symbol of the region, drawing tourists, nature enthusiasts, and history lovers alike. It also serves as a venue for various local events.
Interestingly, the monument and its surroundings are ideal for strolls and family recreation, while its coordinates—54°50′08.8″N 18°18′00.5″E—also attract geocaching enthusiasts. The Northern Star highlights the beauty of the Polish coastline and the country’s geographical diversity, cementing its place in regional history as a must-visit destination.
