Nowinka

Nowinka is a rural commune located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Augustów County, with its administrative seat in the village of Nowinka. Until 1954, it was known as the Szczebro-Olszanka Commune, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 203.84 km², of which 27% is agricultural land and 61% is forest land, highlighting the region's rich natural landscape. As of June 30, 2008, Nowinka was inhabited by 2,827 people, reflecting its rural character. The commune consists of numerous village districts, such as Ateny, Bryzgiel, Józefowo, and the Olszanka District, as well as smaller settlements like Blizna, Busznica, and Pijawne.
