The Nowy Dwór Commune is a rural municipality located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Sokółka County, in the northeastern reaches of Poland, near the border with Belarus and within the buffer zone of the Biebrza National Park. The seat of the commune is the town of Nowy Dwór, situated on the Biebrza River, which has its source in Talki. The commune covers an area of 120.88 km², of which 79% is agricultural land and 14% is forest land, highlighting its strong ties to nature and agriculture. Before 1999, the commune was administratively part of the Białystok Voivodeship. As of June 30, 2008, the commune was inhabited by 2,859 people. The demographic structure of its residents reflects certain cultural and social aspects of the region, and the age of the inhabitants can be analyzed in the context of an age pyramid. The commune comprises numerous village administrative units, such as Bieniowce, Bobra Wielka, and Chworościany, as well as settlements without such status, like Chwojnowszczyzna or Leśnica. The commune borders other municipalities, such as Dąbrowa Białostocka and Kuźnica, as well as the Republic of Belarus.
