wikipedia
Modyń is one of the highest peaks of the Beskid Wyspowy range (1029 meters above sea level), accessible via three marked hiking trails and several unmarked forest paths. Near the viewing tower on Modyń, there is a parking lot by a chapel at the crossroads of the Zalesie–Młyńczysko roads, serving as a starting point for various routes that differ in duration and total elevation gain. The observation tower, opened on August 15, 2021, is a significant element of the region’s tourist infrastructure. Built with a wooden structure and standing 27 meters tall, it features a viewing platform at 20.7 meters. From this platform, visitors can enjoy a 360° panorama that includes the peaks of the Beskid Wyspowy, Gorce, Beskid Sądecki, Magura Spiska, Tatra Mountains, and on clear days, even Kraków. The construction of the tower was co-financed by the Łącko Municipality and the European Union, with a total cost of 715,598 PLN. The tower has quickly become a popular destination, whereas previously, Modyń was less attractive to tourists due to dense forest undergrowth. An interesting feature is the gentle ascent designed for those with a fear of heights, and the platform can accommodate up to 25 people at once. Thanks to the covered stairs and platform, the tower remains functional and comfortable to use even in adverse weather conditions. Modyń is surrounded by picturesque villages: Zalesie, Zbludza, Wola Kosnowa, Kicznia, and Młyńczyska. The observation tower not only promotes local culture but also adds a new highlight to the region’s tourist offerings, attracting mountain hikers and nature enthusiasts.
