wikipedia
The Officers' Yacht Club in Augustów is a historic tourist attraction, located on the Pień Peninsula by Lake Białe Augustowskie. It was designed by architect Juliusz Nagórski between 1934 and 1935 in the modernist style. The construction took only two months, with around 400 workers involved in the project. Enormous quantities of materials were used, including 1.6 million bricks and 650 tons of cement, and the construction cost amounted to approximately 290,000 złotys. The facility gained significance as a representative venue for the Officers' Yacht Club of Poland, featuring a ballroom, a reading room, bridge rooms, and many spacious verandas overlooking the lake. Its interiors also included 80 hotel rooms and spaces for social events. After World War II, the building became a Military Holiday Resort and currently operates as a tourist center. In 1999, the facility was entered into the register of historical monuments, highlighting its architectural and historical value. Prominent figures from Polish political life rested here, and in 1938, a Polish-Lithuanian conference was held on the premises. The complex includes not only the Yacht Club but also a wooden gatehouse and the White House, making it an attractive destination for tourists.
